Sustainability Agenda

Our Sustainability Commitment and Agenda:

Microware is committed to incorporating social, environmental, economic and ethical factors into our strategic decision-making. We are currently involved in a number of sustainability activities, these include:

We are strong advocates of the use of technology to save the environment by promoting paperless workflows so that we save the planet by not cutting down trees.

Climate Change

We always advocate and encourage our clients to adopt climate friendly solutions especially when it comes to back up power solutions. Businesses need access to resources. We are collaborating with TCH E-WASTE Limited (TCH) is a wholly Zambian owned limited company, registered under the Zambian company act and is private E-waste recycling specialist in Zambia. TCH E-WASTE has collection stations in Matero and Chilenje Lusaka, Zambia.

TCH complies with International electronic waste management, storage, transportation, and disposal regulations and standards. This collaboration enables us to create disposal solutions that provide added value to our clients and facilitate their commitment to being ethically responsible in their disposal of obsolete/redundant electronic waste.

We offer technological innovations can transform social patterns of travel and communication and change energy consumption. Video conferencing and telecommuting, by curbing the necessity for daily commutes and especially energy intensive air travel, are prime examples of how our technology solutions can radically reduce energy use.

We offer cost effective and affordable solutions that create new markets by addressing the digital divide. We offer refurbished computer equipment so that so those that cannot afford the costly solutions are not left far behind.

Social Change

We believe in building for the future by offering opportunities to small enterprises and individuals who ordinarily would not be considered for opportunities; We work with these to accord them the exposure and allows them to build credible reputations which will allow them to compete and thrive. The “seed of opportunity” we give these is one that we strongly inculcate in them so that we create an environment where we specialise and tap into respective strengths that results in efficiency and more diverse options.

We are involved in the promotion of community sports through sponsorship packages and services that promote sport in the community. We provide consultancy services and support to community football teams that lack the professional expertise to becoming financially stable.

Economic Change

Unemployment levels are very high in Zambia, in order to help mitigate this Microware accords opportunities to talented young people who we offer mentorship and coaching. We are always encouraging our clients to find ways of according young talented people an opportunity to gain experience. We also participate in programs that help young people to develop business ideas and collaboration skills. We also participate in activities that help young people reform. We are also involved in activities that help to spread “good news” we share local success stories of people that are doing well but have a story to tell regarding how they built themselves. We believe these efforts will help many young people in Zambia to become proud of the local heritage and be inspired to do more so that they can in turn be the inspiration to those that look up to them.

Environmental Change

We are currently working on a strategy to incentivise our services for clients that promote environmentally friendly initiatives. The incentives include discounts on services. We hope that these incentives will encourage our current and would be clients to embrace solutions that promote a green and clean environment.
